I'm sure that in a few months the character creation system will be worked on, hopefully, and I was thinking of feats. I believe certain things, such as many that popped up before, should stick around, but other things, I believe, should be added. Mainly, martial arts.

The martial arts of Star Wars aren't very well explored in many RPs, and it could give us an edge in the whole, becoming close to your character's existence type stuff. These martial arts should be able to effect hand-to-hand combat, if there will be such a system or rating/skill class, as well as some attributes... such as strength, speed, or constitution. Just thought I'd throw that out to you guys to feed on.

In the d20 system, there were outlets for the Martial Arts, and if you used different sourcebooks, there were feats that would allow you to become proficient in other forms.

So it was there before, and hopefully, it'll be somewhat kept there. So don't think that the martial arts side of things was kept out for a reason when it was there all along.

Ah, totally didn't know that. It's been too long since I looked at the feats, but then again, back then I was more thinking R&D with the char, not combat, so I wasn't really looking too hard. Now, I will...

Keep in mind, a totally new character system is being developed for SWS. Seele or another member of the Dev Team would be able to shed some light on if the martial arts "skills" will be available".

Orion, there were several martial arts feats. I recall vividly because the character of Seele had the following feats: Martial Arts, Defensive Martial Arts, Improved Martial Arts, and then some feats which aided melee combat such as Cleave, Combat Expertise, Power Attack etc. Those feats are still in SWS, and much more available to players as you will get a new feat every level, rather than a new feat every three levels or whatever it was before.

Ok, cool. At least, now I know. Like I said, previously, I was looking more for R&D related feats... but now I know what to watch out for this time around. Now, since we are going to a interface rather than text based style of gameplay, at least on the central area of the game, is there definatly going to be a combat system developed and ready for use once everything is up and running again, or will we still be waiting after a few years of having the game, like on SWC? I guess what I'm asking is, will any benefits really benefit you in Melee Combat once we have the game?

Immediately upon re-release? No. Hence why the game will not be open to new players. We will be using the existing players of SWS as our testers in effect. A closed Beta if you will on the first stages of the system before we build on top of it. This is to make sure that the foundation of the game works before extending into combat heavily. See the Dev Squeeling topic for more information on how Combat will work.
